Music Director Anthony Blake Clark
I have a special bond with this piece. It was premiered in the city of Birmingham in the UK, with an orchestra and chorus that eventually became the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and Chorus (music lovers will recognize this as the place where Sir Simon Rattle rose to international fame), an ensemble I had the honor of performing with and working for as a graduate student in Birmingham. I remember with great pride and fondness rehearsing this music under the watchful eye of my teacher just steps away from the Birmingham Town Hall where it was premiered almost 200 years ago!
